The Idea
This is a site designed to inform the public about the smoking laws of the United States. We at Federal Smoking laws are aim to become the central source for all smoking law related information. As the site grows we will have more links to more sites that are specific to individual states regarding their smoking laws.
The Law
There is no federal ban on smoking, although Executive Order 13058 requires federal facilities to be smoke-free. Most states have laws limiting or banning smoking in public places, including the workplace. Illness caused by smoking costs employers in absenteeism, reduced productivity, workers' compensation, and lawsuits, so many employers are initiating smoke-free workplace policies and assisting employees who want to quit smoking.
